As the sky drifted into its deep twilight blue, I spotted a graceful crane wading through six inches of water, clearly taking his evening constitutional. The moon was already high, spreading a soft silver shimmer across the waves and giving the beach a calm aqua glow. He paused beside me, lifted one leg in that classic crane pose—as if reminding me he had excellent balance—and gave me a polite nod that said, “Nice evening for a stroll, isn’t it?” We stood there together for a while, sharing the quiet. It felt only right to paint the moment exactly as it happened: just me and my twilight companion, enjoying the moonlight in perfect agreement.
